It seems that shooting with three fingers under puts the arrow nock closer to the eye, reducing parallax, increasing aiming accuracy at most woodbow hunting distances. No? Tim

Re: For Discussion: Pros and Cons of Three-fingers Under

I use split draw, I have tried 3 under, but it is less fluend, require snap on nocks (I know wooden nocks usually are) and makes you more likely to fumble since you dont feel the arrow in the same...

Re: For Discussion: Pros and Cons of Three-fingers Under

I've played the "Apache draw" before, it does let you gunbarrel the arrow (look right down the shaft). But it never seemed as solid to me, even with a nock holding your arrow in place I still worry...

If the hand's center of pressure against a symmertical bow is placed at dead center on the bow, but a bit lower in the hand--a fuller grip--then all is in balance again. Tim

I have no doubt that gunbarelling this way could enhance accuracy, but just for me, the whole thing just seems all out of whack , and I shoot instinctively anyhow, no conscious awareness of the arrow....

Tim, Nice diagram. I think it makes clear what you are talking about with "3 under" release. As shown, all is symetric regarding the draw forces, but the arrow is above center on the bow and string....

Re: For Discussion: Pros and Cons of Three-fingers Under

Hmm, is that why you typically need to nock an arrow slightly above center, becasue of this rotational force?I always felt that there was no way to make things truly symmetrical, fortunately there is...

I use a loose fitting nock, with a tied on nock point.I nock below, and the slight pressure from my fingers on the shaftand the stopping point from above, keeps things in place.

Re: For Discussion: Pros and Cons of Three-fingers Under

Tim, your diagram is good but does not show the arrow nocked higher than 90 deg. Arrow closer to eye means more accuracy at short distances. This is speculation but long shot accuracy may...

Tim ,I do beleave that the tree hold is very good for target shooting , but for hunting I like one above and rwo below for a good arrow release in wooded condtions . I am sure others do use the three...

George: Yes, long shot accuracy would suffer. It seems twenty-yard and closer accuracy would rise. Personally three under seems awkward. I'm curious to see what % of hunters use it.If all three...
